Construction Project Specialist

Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.

WCMRC is recruiting for a Construction Project Specialist to join the Corporate Projects team, located at our corporate office in Burnaby, B.C.  This is a one-year contract position, with potential for renewal based on continuing business needs. This position will be particularly appealing to an individual who enjoys quality control, compliance and coordination of multiple projects in a dynamic, growing organization.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Project Specialist will assist with the overall management and successful completion of construction projects on Vancouver Island and within the Lower Mainland.  This position will maintain productive working relationships with project sponsors, external vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the organization.

To be successful in this role you will bring a minimum of two years of previous experience working on commercial or industrial construction projects, including construction contract management. A Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management would be an asset.  Access to your own vehicle and willingness to undertake frequent travel to sites throughout Vancouver and Vancouver Island for extended periods of time is essential.  You will need to have exceptional organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills to manage a heavy workload under changing priorities.
