Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified , whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.
We are seeking a Temporary Full Time Procurement Specialist (1 year contract with possibility of extension) to join our Response Readiness team. This position is based in Burnaby, B.C.
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for engaging vendors on Requests for Proposals and Requests for Quotations, acting as the single point of contact between WCMRC and vendors to ensure the timely flow information between the parties and assisting in the evaluation of vendor proposals to select preferred vendors. This role will also support the negotiation of Terms and Conditions with vendors. In addition, work with Operations to determine acceptance of goods and support, and the enhancement of best practices in the area of procurement.
To be successful in this role you will have a post-secondary degree or diploma and bring a minimum of three to five years of previous business experience, preferably in Supply Chain management or in a Procurement environment. We are looking for someone with comprehensive experience drafting vendor agreements including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risk with vendors and suppliers through well-structured agreements. Also, considerable knowledge of contracts, laws, ordinances, tariffs and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.
If you are a team player able to coordinate and interact with multiple people and projects, and skilled at managing changing and shifting priorities. In addition, strong computer skills, including proficiency with all MS Office applications are required. Certification as a Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) is considered an asset. Please note: business travel will be required around the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
