A Singapore-flagged oil tanker, which was reported to have been seized by private militiamen in Cameroon earlier this month following a dispute between Eastern Pacific Shipping and DSC Marine was released on Feb. 5th. Eastern Pacific Shipping alleged at the time the Aframax M/T Barents Sea was illegally seized by DSC Marine, a local charterer, and local Cameroonian military forces armed with AK-47 submachine guns in the Sonara refinery in Limbe, Cameroon. The 26 crew on board which includes nationals from India, Ukraine, China, Philippines and Turkey were unharmed.
