The cruise ship Freewinds was quarantined in the Caribbean nation of St. Lucia this week after it was identified that there was a confirmed case of the measles on board. Passengers and crew members were not permitted to leave. The ship’s doctor requested and received 100 doses of the measles vaccine from the St. Lucia Department of Health and Wellness, as advised by the nation’s chief medical office. The Freewinds had remained moored at St. Lucia until around midnight on Thursday, when it departed to the west of the island. The ship is reportedly owned by the Church of Scientology and is used as an exclusive training center. AIS tracking currently shows the next port of call for the vessel is Willemstad, Curacao.
